The 2026 Spey-O-Rama (SOR), the world championship of spey casting, was held on April 18-19 at the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club in San Francisco. Weather conditions were excellent. Congratulations to these winners!
- Scotland's Blaine Lyon, age 23, won his second consecutive men's open title with a performance for the record books. Blaine won the Men's Open Division with a four-cast total of 709 feet and a longest cast of 191 feet. For the second consecutive year, BC's Tim Arsenault placed second; Oregon's Travis Johnson placed third; and Scotland's James Chalmers placed fourth.
In Saturday's mens qualifying, Blaine Lyon set two new World records. His four-cast total of 771 feet eclisped by 47 feet the prior world record set by Gerard Downey in 2016. His longest cast, a 199 foot right single, eclipsed by 1 foot the world record that Travis Johnson had held since 2014. Just three casts later, Blaine tied his own new world record with a 199 foot left snake.
- Kara Knight won her second women's title, with a four-cast total of 575 feet and longest cast of 157 feet. The latter is a new world record, exclipsing by 3 feet the world record set by Whitney Gould last year.
Many-time previous champion Donna O'Sullivan placed second. BC's Sara Horne, a first time SOR competitor, placed third.
- California's Tom Olson won his first SOR masters title with a four-cast total of 540 feet. Washington's Jeon Lee placed second with 536 feet. California's Glen Nagumo placed 3rd with 533 feet, winning a tie-breaker with Argentina's Agustin Avellaneda who also posted 533.
