After a two-year hiatus due the pandemic, the Spey-O-Rama was held for the first time since time since 2019 on April 23-24 at the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club in San Francisco. Weather conditions were mild and mostly sunny with light winds.
Due to continued pandemic-and-other travel restrictions, there fewer competitors this year. We celebrated three first-time Spey-O-Rama champions. Garret Strickland of Nevada City, California won the men's open division with a four cast total of 560 feet and longest cast of 149 feet. Valerio Santagostino of Milan, Italy won the men's senior division with 577 feet total and longest cast of 150 feet. Kim Lyons of Anatone, Washington (on the Grande Ronde River) won the women's competition with a four-cast total of 489 feet and longest cast of 137 feet.
